First Command Wargames LLC was founded in 2014 by a group of five veteran gamers and friends. We were encouraged by our frequent partner, Ganesha Games, to publish our version of a Napoleonic skirmish rules set that we had adapted for the French & Indian War. With the co-publication with Ganesha of "Song of Drums and Tomahawks," First Command Wargames was born! Following soon after was a set of Colonial & Victorian warfare rules, "For Queen and Planet." Author Tom Graves went on to supplement these rules with PDF versions of "The Martian Punitive Expedition" and "The Boxer Rebellion." Meanwhile, the authors of Song of Drums created two campaign supplements -- "Beaver Wars" and "Pequot War." Steve Verdoliva published his labor of love, "For Queen or Empress" for the Seven Years War, then followed that up with a War of Austrian Succession supplement. The five friends ran many sessions of their rules at local and regional conventions to get the word out about their rules. "Wars of Insurgency" followed, and then the final publication by First Command Wargames, "Mean Streets: War in Gang-infested Cities" hit the streets during the Covid pandemic.
The LLC we founded was dissolved in 2024. The business side of things interfered too much with the rules writing, we felt. Ganesha Games and Wargame Vault handle most of our sales, now. The individual rules authors retain control of each set, but no longer do we directly sell copies of the rules. However, we are happy to assist companies that want to stock our rules in obtaining them. A number of companies now carry First Command Wargames rules, including Brigade Games and On Military Matters. Smaller shops, such as RRB Minis & More and GameChefs, also carry selected titles of the First Command Wargames rules line. This free website was created on Weebly to inform people about First Command Wargames rules, though we do not technically exist as a company anymore.
