"Congo, Bloody Congo!" at Origins Game Fair 2023

This 4-player Wars of Insurgency game was run at Origins Game Fair 2023. The scenario was set in the bloody wars for independence in The Congo in Africa. Congolese forces, augmented by a detachment from the United Nations, try to end the brief independence of the breakaway state of Katanga. Check out the game report here on Lead Legionaries blog.

Probably the most prolific players anywhere in the world of Wars of Insurgency rules are the Nunawading Wargames Association in Melbourne, Australia. Here is an account of one of their huge, multiplayer games at their annual game day. It features a raid on an airfield by numerous factions -- not all of them strictly historical! 'Holy Mackeral!' - It is another Wars of Insurgency
Game Report from the Nunawading Wargames Association


Those prolific players of Wars of Insurgency from Australia are back with another game report. This one is called "Holy Mackeral!" This one featured several factions racing to reach a flying boat and be the ones to embark upon it and escape to safety. Rearguard Action at the Battle of Cassinga - South African (including jets!) vs. Cubans & SWAPO

This battle using Wars of Insurgency rules is a refight of the rearguard action at Cassinga by the South Africans trying to hold of Cuban & SWAPO forces. This game featured a playtest of fixed wing air support rules as Mirage III jets and a Buccaneer strafed, bombed, and tried their best to save the paratroopers who were in danger of being overrun by an enemy armored column. Multiple factions collide on the in Imaginafrica as a contested pontoon bridging action is fought to limit the political influence of rival nations. Communist Invasion of Bungara - a Wars of Insurgency Battle Report by Juergen Olk

Another huge fan of Wars of Insurgency rules is Juergen Olk. He takes to the Lead Adventure Forum to document a massive naval landing and battle account of the invasion of his fictional African country, Bungara. Downed Pilot is Fought Over by 10 Different Factions
in a Wild Scenario Played by MOGG Group in Columbus

The Mid-Ohio Gamers Group has been staging huge monthly games for years on the outskirts of Columbus. GM Chris Brutsche staged this scenario and ended up having 10 players. Some factions had different ideas about what it meant to "liberate" the pilots. Check out the photos and an account of how it ended up on this Facebook post.

South American Paramilitaries & Leftists Put Squeeze
on Narcos at Advance the Colors 2022 Convention


A hard scenario to run is a 3-sided one. Rules author Mike Demana moved the setting of Wars of Insurgency from Africa to South America for a game involving a 3-way battle between Colombian Paramilitaries, Leftists, and Narco Warlords. Rebels Clash with Dictator & his Mercenary Forces in Imagination Africa Battle Using Wars of Insurgency

Here are dozens of pictures from a Wars of Insurgency battle rules fan Juergen Olk ran at the Polish Home Game Day in Nebraska. "Butt naked" rebels do their best to overthrow the dictator and defeat his mercenary forces. Check out this Facebook post to see the report.

Rhodesian Bush Wars in a Cooperative Skirmish
at Cincycon 2019 Convention

With the asymmetrical casualty rates in Rhodesia's "Bush Wars" against the ZANLA insurgents, rules author Mike Demana pondered how to stage one of these game and make it interesting for players. 'Smoking Some Cubans' is South African Goal in this Refight using Wars of Insurgency at Little Wars con
